Recognising and Nurturing Talents

The initiative “One instrument for each child“ was first launched by the city of Bochum and has since September 2006 been animated by the music school of the district Meißen in a joint venture with the Neue Musikschule Coswig e.V.. Ludwig Güttler is patron of this project, which enables pupils attending first and second grade in primary and special schools of the district to learn an instrument. The lessons are carried out in the schools, meaning that it is the tutors who come to the schools. In this way travelling costs to and from the music school are made redundant, and pupils whose parents are not able to take their children to the music school can also benefit from this project. The instruments for this project are funded by the foundation Zukunftsstifung Bildung and other project partners. Once the children “have tasted the blood”, they can then continue their lessons at a music school. Güttler substantiates his support for this project stating that every child should have the opportunity to recognise his/her talent and nurture it.
