Following Dresden’s Music Culture

In 1985 Ludwig Güttler founded the ensemble Virtuosi Saxoniae - a chamber orchestra that owing to the variability of its instrumentation gives him the opportunity to offer versatile and creative concert programmes. Güttler’s ensemble, consisting of prominent members of the Dresden State Orchestra of Saxony, is particularly devoted to the European 18th century music culture as was once fashionable during Dresden’s musical heydays. The ensemble performs on modern instruments, however, in terms of performance practice it performs with respect to historical criteria. Since the ensemble’s first debut in 1986, during the Dresden music festival, the Virtuosi Saxoniae have set a high benchmark with their numerous concerts abroad and at home and their impressive CD recordings.
