Two of a Special Kind

Trumpet and Organ - is over and over again a sound combination of a special kind. The brilliant sound of the brass instrument wonderfully blends in with the tones of the so alterable “queen of instruments”. For Ludwig Güttler, concerts comprising a trumpet and an organ are an absolute must for his concert tours. He has performed and continues to perform in this duo in a great number of churches and since 1979 he has had a constant musical partner: the organist Friedrich Kircheis. Kircheis studied at the University of Music and Theatre ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ Leipzig and was from 1971 to 2005 cantor and organist at the Diakonissenhauskirche Dresden. In 1972 he was a prize winner at the IV. International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig and performs as an organist and a harpsichordist in various chamber music associations. Together with Ludwig Güttler he not only plays in concerts comprising trumpet and organ, but is also a harpsichordist in Güttler’s ensemble Virtuosi Saxoniae and the Leipzig Bach Collegium.
