Assuming Responsibility

As a universal musician, to whom the idea of focusing on one single profession is alien, Güttler not only devotes his musical talents to performing, but also to conducting. For him conducting offers him the best opportunity to realise his own musical ideas whilst at the same time assuming great responsibilities. He first started conducting cantatas at the University Church of St. Paul  and the St. Nicholas Church in Leipzig during his studies and also occasionally assumed conducting engagements, for example, at the German-French chamber orchestra or in Japan. It was only in the early 1980s that Güttler started to systematically engage as a conductor, whereby the concerts and CD recordings realised with his ensemble Virtuosi Saxoniae take centre stage. The ensemble regularly performs and culminates in great concert halls such as the Philharmonic of Cologne, Hamburg’s Music Hall, the Berlin Concert Hall, the Philharmonic and the Hercules Hall in Munich, the Monastery Eberbach and also the likes of the Frauenkirche Dresden.
